Merced County Expands Vaccine Eligibility to Include High-Risk Individuals
MERCED COUNTY, CA – The County is pleased to announce the expansion of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility. Effective immediately, newly eligible groups now include:
Individuals that are 16 – 64 years of age with high-risk health conditions and disabilities;
Individuals in congregate settings (homeless, incarcerated, etc.); and
Public transit workers.
The Governor also recently announced the State’s intent to use the health equity quartile of the Healthy Places Index to allocate COVID-19 vaccine. A large portion of zip codes in Merced County are already in the lowest quartile of the Healthy Places Index, which will hopefully lead to additional vaccine resources throughout the community. See the attached list for the eligible phases.
Please note: Future announcements regarding eligibility expansion will be made in the Merced County Department of Public Health’s “Daily Status Report.” Residents can sign up for that report at www.countyofmerced.com/coronavirus.
